In the tick of the second hand

Ecclesiastes 9:12 For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.

The word of God clearly tells us that we do not know our time of visitation; we know not when He will require our soul. Can we know when misfortune may come upon us? The bible instructs us to number our days, to be prepared for our day of visitation. Mark 13:36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Mankind prepares so much for the natural, feeding and caring for our bodies, etc. We have created career’s for our final days before death, retirement funds, 401k’s, and IRA’s. We plan for this and arrange that, yet… we take no regard to the future that will be an eternity long. Man makes great efforts for this very retirement if any, but for eternity we chase it from our conscious-ness.

Proverbs 6:15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

So much in the news about the subject: Two vehicles plummet to their death off an overpass, terrorism everywhere and the uncertainty of the next strike, snipers randomly picking off their victims, sudden deaths from illnesses we know nothing about. What’s next? Is any person on the face of the earth immune to calamity? Think about it, do not suppress the thought, and try and come up with the answer. Isaiah 47:11 Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know.

We have no control, on the way to work this morning…something could have happened. It is only by God’s grace that nothing happened. None know the hour of our demise; suddenly of maybe over a long period of illness, we just can not know. But we can be prepared. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

First, you need to be working towards your crown, the crown of life that the Lord Jesus His sheep, his people that are washed clean is His blood. If you are not His own, and you know who you are if you are honest. Give your life to Him. Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
